The Lunch and Learn Business Development Series at Susquehanna Bank, West Chester

West Chester, PA – July 27, 2010 – The Susquehanna Bank and Higher Vision Coaching & Consulting are joining together to present a business development seminar series at Susquehanna Bank in West Chester. This informative and practical seminar series is being offered to assist business owners in our area to prosper through current economic conditions and will cover topics ranging from simplifying the complexities of business financing to practical strategies to growing business profits in a challenging business environment.

The Lunch and Learn Business Development Series will take place in the Large Conference Room at Susquehanna Bank on the third Thursday of the month – August through December 2010. For only the cost of Lunch ($20), business owners will have the opportunity to participate in a practical and interactive learning session and networking opportunity. Seminar leaders, Todd Detwiler is Vice President, Commercial Real Estate at Susquehanna and Jeff Kofsky, Principal at Higher Vision Coaching & Consulting is member of the Professional Business Coaches Alliance. Both are seasoned business professionals who bring a depth of knowledge to the areas of financing and business development.

What Makes for True Business Success?

Many of the business owners I have talked with understand the value of a Master Mind Group. The Master Mind concept was promulgated by Napolean Hill who recognized the extraordinary value of the fellowship of like minded people who meet together in a relationship of trust to solve problems and achieve levels of attainment in business and in life. Other variants of the Master Mind principle have evolved in the form of the hundreds of Meet Up groups that have sprung up around the world.

I am launching this blog as a forum for discussion, in the spirit of the Master Mind Group, to look at key areas in business and in life that contribute to true success. So to open the discussion, I pose the question: "What makes for true business success in business?" We all know that despite the intensity of our passion to express what we love in business, we will not have a business unless we have customers and make a profit. So what will ensure that we can continue to make a fair and sound profit and grow our customers even as we follow our passion? And what are the important things that determine the level of satisfaction that we experience as business owners and professionals?

I was recently inducted into the membership of Rotary International and I learned about a business that was on the brink. It was in 1932 and the business was the Chicago-based Club Aluminum Company. It was on the verge of bankruptcy when Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor was asked to take charge. Taylor drew up a code of ethics for all employees to follow in their business and professional lives, and later became known and adopted as Rotary's 4 Way Test::

"Of the things we think, say or do ask:
1. Is it the Truth?
2. Is it Fair to All Concerned?
3. Will it Build Goodwill and Better Friendships?
4. Will it be Beneficial to all Concerned?"

The 4 Way Test became the guide for sales, production, advertising, and all relations with dealers and customers. The survival of the company was attributed to this simple philosophy which was implemented, adopted and embraced by all the company's employees.
